As part of the school's ethos, which sees the student as part of the surrounding community, we encourage the social and academic integration of our students in schools in the nearby community. The combination gives our students an opportunity to acquire learning skills in a different environment than a regular school.
Over the years there has been a combination of studies in the Beit Tsefa division, the Reut school and the Dror school.
Ilanot students participate in professional classes at the Mamed Gonenim school near us. The combination is in the calculus, Torah and Parsha classes of the week and is adapted to the needs of the students.
The students of the senior level integrate individually into educational classes in the division of Keshet School. Students study creative writing, Judaism, citizenship and more.
The group of senior level students learn the language of movement and contact with the students of the dance major from the "Arts High School". This is a combined workshop delivered by instructors from "Vertigo the balance force" to the students of both schools. As part of the integration project, the students appear in two joint and impressive performances.

Social inclusion

Ilanot and Gonenim Elementary School

Ilanot's unique social inclusion program with the neighboring Gonenim Religious Elementary School encourages interaction and cooperation between students, leading to collaboration, creation of social bonds, and shared experiences. The program consists of regular meetings between the students from both schools that are integrated into the annual curriculum. These mutual activities include art classes, animal therapy, therapeutic gardening, recesses, and more. In addition, there are special events which are celebrated together throughout the year, such as Walking Day, Hanukkah, Ilanot's annual Tu B'Shvat market, the Jerusalem marathon, mishloach manot for Purim, Good Deeds Day, and activities for Lag B'Omer. The program has been running for a number of years and won the Education Administration Award in 2009/10.

Ilanot and Keshet Elementary school

The social inclusion program with the Keshet Elementary School has been ongoing for over two decades. Students from the younger division participate in a series of meetings that take place throughout the year at both the Ilanot School and Keshet School. Students from both schools enjoy enrichment and arts and crafts sessions together around shared themes.

Employment workshops

Ilanot offers students vocational training workshops to prepare them for future employment. The workshops are part of the student’s weekly schedule and cover a wide array of creative interests, including ceramics, jewelry, paper and woodworking. Each workshop is structured like a factory: there is a production line with permanent stations for different stages of the process. Each student specializes in at least one station, according to his abilities. Students work with the help of specially adapted

Extracurricular employment

In order to prepare Ilanot’s students for independence after age 21, the school has developed an 11-step work skills training program for students beginning at age 16. Students learn to use these work skills in pre-vocational workshops at Ilanot and in collaboration with community resources. Ilanot students take part in a program designed by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Welfare   called “18+: Looking Towards the Future.” In addition, Ilanot students travel to community work environments in accordance with their abilities and needs: the “Elwin” center in Jerusalem offers an adaptive work environment, and Ilanot’s vocational staff has developed relationships with area businesses willing to offer training for appropriate students.

Extracurricular activities

Ilanot offers extracurricular activities during school hours both within the school and out in the community as additional enrichment opportunities. Activities include dog training, meetings with Scouts, visits to museums and other attractions, as well as adapted nature walks with the organization LOTEM. Each year, every Ilanot student can participate in the tiyul shnati- a more extensive field trip traveling outside of Jerusalem with other classes in their age division. Students in the upper division experience an overnight trip. In the past, Ilanot has also sent a small delegation of staff and students to Poland.
