"Ilanot" was established in Jerusalem in the mid-1960s to provide a comprehensive rehabilitative and educational solution for students with motor disabilities.

Today, Ilanot is a public school for students aged 6-21 with complex disabilities at various levels of functioning.

Ilanot is located in the Gonenim neighborhood of Jerusalem, managed and supervised by the Ministry of Education and the Jerusalem municipality’s special education department.

The school operates from 7.30 to 15.30 and on Fridays from 7.30 to 12.00.

The school maintains a comprehensive rehabilitative-educational program based on the curriculum of the Ministry of Education. The rehabilitative-educational program is implemented by an extensive multi-professional team specializing in working with students with complex disabilities - educational staff, paramedical professionals, hydrotherapists and emotional support staff. In addition, the school has a medical team that includes nurses and visits from a doctor, as well as a psychologist and social workers. Volunteers and university students studying related fields are also essential partners in educational-rehabilitation work.

Ilanot serves residents of Jerusalem and of nearby suburbs such as Ma'ale Adumim, Mateh Yehuda Regional Counsel and Beit Shemesh. Some students travel from as far away as Modiin, Ashkelon, the Jordan Valley, Kiryat Malachi and more. The school population is made up of students from diverse religious and cultural background:  Jews (ultra-Orthodox, religious and secular), Muslims and Christians. These students are referred to our school by eligibility determination committees.

Ilanot is a rehabilitative educational school that promotes a genuine belief in every student’s ability to progress cognitively, motorically, socially, emotionally, and functionally to improve his or her quality of life. At the core of Ilanot’s educational philosophy is the belief that every student, with and despite any limitations, has the right and duty to make choices and influence his life and his environment, to the best of his ability.
